Why are people so hung up about mana? - Page 3

Please explain this statement as I'm completely lost?

Lol. Wizard look is far from anime style.

it's not like prodigies and highly talented intelligent rebellious youth don't exist in real life.

The prodigy thing is in many games and there's one in like every series. They don't outright say it most of the time but there's always one person that's supposed to have skill beyond their years. In games its usually the main character, where there is only one main character, and/or the villain. A lot of the times it's just a bi-product of making the main character so skilled yet still very young but I count that too.|||Quote:

True, and i don't think there is anything wrong with that, it is the same case in real life as well, of course not as common as in games or anime but there are still many cases in real life of kids and youth who far exceed their peers in IQ and skills.

Again, that's true ... but it really depends on how well this prodigy is presented .... one notable example in anime would be Tōshirō Hitsugaya from Bleach, he is one of the youngest characters in the cast yet he has the same status and power as many older characters in the series .. he is also far from being the main character (who is much older) and is one of more than 30 side characters in the series ... that's one good example of good representation of prodigies.

As for the D3 example ... it seems that the Wizard is indeed the youngest among all that characters (Barb, WD and Monk so far) yet she/he has the potential to stand toe to toe with them in combat becasue of her/his talent with arcane forbidden magic ... personally i don't think there is really anything wrong with that.

One bad example is when you have a game or an anime where there are 5 or more kids who are capable of fighting and defeating all the adults in the game/series for no good reason whatsoever other than being the main characters (i.e ... having character shields XD).|||I'm not so much against it being overused, just that the lore seems to bask in its overuse. Like when I read it it sounded like it was trying too hard to make the wizard seemed cool. So hard that it backfired hardcore.|||Feh, I'm sure we'll all end up having fun with the Wizard in our own way.

I'm not in the least bothered about her non-mana usage, as I think it's about time someone came up with a fresh take on an arcetypical magic-user. I'm also rather curious about what the new system will be.

I am, however, slightly vexed about her personality - she's the type of character I'd readily want to see die in some gruesome fashion to effectively wipe that arrogant, rage-inducing smile off of her egotistical face forever.
