A wizard using that combination is a melee character even with your definition.
Yes. So why go off topic about cone attacks, novas and the like? If you want to talk about those, you can make a thread.|||Quote:

It's not off topic to discuss the complimentary skills to go along with that combination, like armors, frost nova and explosive blast. Even barbarians will use complimentary skills to go along with their main melee attacks like, ground stomp (frost nova), revenge (storm shield) or leap attack (teleport with dmg rune).
Besides, the thread maker just said that he would catch the opponent off guard with melee. We don't know what he means by melee.
And, does it really matter if you swing your weapon as long as you are within melee range? The play style, and the defensive spells and traits, remains the same.|||We know what melee is, so it's not hard to think what he means by melee.
Melee attacks (norm attack, cleave, SSS, whirlwind, etc) are different than just standing close. They have "Magic Weapon" and need a skill to make use of it. We can speculate about what they will get in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath.|||Quote:

You mean, that you know what you think that melee is. According to Blizzard and this fan-sites wikipedia about the game, what you think is wrong.
http://www.diablowiki.net/Melee
"The word melee will also apply when a combatant use a spell or spell-like ability to damage her opponent while being in such a close vicinity to it that it could hurt her back in turn. Some melee attacks use an Area of Effect instead of a single individual as target."
So, plz. stop ruining the thread.|||Okay, according to Blizzard and your wiki, this entire thread is wrong.

Melee Classes
In Diablo 3, the following classes are considered "melee" classes:
* Barbarian - Pure melee class. Almost no non-melee oriented skills.
* Monk - The melee caster hybrid.
Please, stop ruining the English language. Being hit by other's melee doesn't mean the attack you're using is automatically a melee attack. Still, feel free to speculate about what might eventually become a melee attack. Personally, I vote for a runed spectral blade.|||Quote:

I agree, Wizard is not a melee class. She is a caster. A caster with the ability to go melee. And if she does, she is a melee character.
"Casters in the Game World
They are usually not excluded from melee, but they generally prefer (through AI or player choices) and excel in ranged spellcasting. This is the classic definition of a caster. Many spells used by casters are ranged, uses an Area of Effect or both. "
Well, I think magic weapon rune effect will do the trick. But it could of course also be spectral blade. Or both.
I wish someone would ask bashiok what the rune effects for SB and MW will be.|||Quote:
Well, I just found another great melee wizard skill.
I dont know if it's frost nova or frost armor skill rune, but looks like hurricane from diablo 2.
It's in this video, from 0:35 - 0:38.

Imagine having this baby up while hacking on your enemies with magic weapon.
... hacking enemies with basic attack? Not sure if it will work vs barbs. U need something better than enchanted sword here|||Quote:

Why?
Do you know how much dmg magic weapon will inflict or what any of its rune effects will do?
Do you know how much dmg any of the barbarian skills will do?
Even if she do less dmg per swing. She will have explosive blast and that skill from the video I posted going at the same time. I never said that only swinging a magic weapon will do it.|||Quote:

That almost looks liked Indigo Runed Ray of Frost, but with worse graphics.
I'd love to see a Wizard camp inside Slow Time, with Ray of Frost (Indigo), and Frost Armor against a Warrior. If they have no counter to snares, you could probably win. If they do, you are probably toast.|||Quote:
