Runed Hydra progression...?

[:1]I guess we all have seen the various versions of the hydra at blizzcon 2010; elemenal variations of the original Hydra.

The thing i'm wondering about is how they will increase in power through the ranks of the runes since none of them are specialized in any particular field E.G. multistrike, damage, debuff.

How do you think they will progress? |||I really have no idea at the moment.|||*casting cost decrease

*duration increase

*et cetera|||I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the lightning hydra could be:

L1 No Jumps

L2 One jump

L3 Two jumps

L4 Three jumps

L5 Four jumps

L6 Five Jumps

L7 Six Jumps|||Quote:

good one

Maybe bigger aoe for frost hydra's ice breath or longer duration for the acid pools created by the poison hydra|||The Arcane Hydra could shoot faster and/or extra projectiles like Magic Missile. I don't think though that each level of rune would add a projectile because that could be a little overpowered combined with the Magic Missile skill.

L1 Extra Projectile

L2 Faster Shoot/Projectiles

L3 Extra Projectile

L4 Faster Shoot/Projectiles

L5 Extra Projectile

...|||I'm actually thinking that the firewall hydra could be:

L1: Firewall

L2: Firewall is wider and longer

L3: Longer and wider than L2

Etc.

Until it ends up as a giant row of fire that annihilates.|||I always figured it would just be a higher damage multiplier for higher runes of each type. I'd like to see something else as well, though.|||Quote:

If you go by the momentum they have with runes in general, i think we can presume some different scaling than just pure damage. The typical faster shots, longer slow/freeze and so forth come to my mind. Acid looks like more poison damage over time with each rune. Just a bit in the direction of those elemental effects in Diablo II.

Why do feel to urge for insane power laugther? |||Leveling Hydra *speculating of course*: A healthy mix of

Increased AP cost.

Increased duration.

Increased base damage.

Decreased cooldown.

Frozen:

Increased chill duration.

Increased AoE.

Lightning:

Increased bounces.

Increased range.

Arcane:

Increased AoE.

Increased attack speed.

Acid:

Increased AoE.

Increased DoT damage.

Firewall:

Increased AoE length.

Increased DoT damage.
