Are wands and staffs that shoot projectiles a good thing? - Page 2

I would only use the projectile when oom, especially if potions are going to be few and far between (last I checked). I say yes to projectjles, but I would like to also suggest that ias, NOT fcr, affect the rate of fire in order to balance it out some.|||Quote:

I hope they dump IAS and FCR and merge them into one speed stat. It would help out the spell/melee hybrids.|||Yeah... I also think it would be a better idea to just have a "faster action" stat that boosts any offensive action's speed.|||Personally, I think they're fine; did having a bow ruin the amazon?

projectile-capable wands/books/orbs/staffs are simply a themed weapon to allow continued fighting, just like a shortsword or xbow.

This is primarily acceptable because abilities generally deal much better damage than weapons, occasionally based on the equipped weapon.|||Definitely a good thing for when your resource runs out.|||Shooting wands could be a nice thing, if done properly. I mean, if wands/staves are basically just bows shooting beams and fancy coloured balls, they feel kind of lame. Besides, I'd like there to be an option to make a bow-wielding wizard or such and not feel like I'm just nerfing myself by not using wands/staves.

Maybe wands/staves could also have their own power pool, which regenerates at some speed, and they could contain more effects than just damaging sparks? Kinda like reserve-mana pool, or whatever resources wizards will use. And there would be an option to instead choose a wand/staff that instead supplies the character with an otherwise unachievable effect. Kinda like oskills in D2, except more limited.|||Nobody wants to kill monsters with wands, people want to use AoE that does massive damage. This is Diablo. So these will become obsolete after level 10.|||I think its a good thing, it makes a caster feel more like a caster even when out of mana.. Just make sure the damage and speed is not comparable to actual spells, so its mostly a thing to use early game or oom instead of a dps tool. like "better then nothing".

Looks way better then a wizard with 15 str smacking stuff with a stick, and diablo 3 is supposed to look epic, imagine the difference between d1 and d2, now take it up a notch.
