Disintegrate. From red to purple? - Page 3

[:1]What about another effect that has a %chance to occur? It might explain the randomness and it explains the change of color, i.e. something happens.

Something like "Mana leech", for example, or whatever resource the Wizard will be getting in the end. Although I am then missing a pop-up number for the Wizard...|||The new PvP ninja footage confirms this even further: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=789395|||Quote:

Hi Madmaxio,

this could be. I'm also not sure, whether it's a problem of the video oo.

I think this riddle has an open solution/ending, as if you are waiting for the results of a green card lottery.

sorry to dissapoint u son, but as u know Russia is the country of lords, so im feeling really good here|||Here's another sequence of Disintegrate from the gamepaly movie. I had to frame by frame for a little tutorial about health orbs sharing in the area, and this one came right after it. So I did it too.

This one is very interesting; the beam starts off red hitting the WD. On the 3rd hit, which goes double damage, the beam turns purple. 4th and 5th hit to the WD it stays purple, but the damage is only double on the 5th.

The dumbest barb in the world then runs up and stands right in front of the Wizard, allowing three more hits. The beam stays purple for all three of these, which deal normal, double, and then triple damage. This seems like support for the idea that there's a double damage for lock on, AND a double damage for critical hit. And this time both of those bonuses stacked.

However, if you look at the sequence above in post #14, the Barb gets a triple damage hit from a beam that stays red the whole time. Confusing! I wouldn't at all rule out the possibility that the skill function is somewhat buggy or not yet entirely locked down, with the game still under dev and the Arena so newly added in.

I also do not know why some damage displays are yellow, while others (the majority) are white. It doesn't seem to relate to double damage. Only the first hit on the WD is yellow in this whole sequence.

One thing I did note with the health globe shots is that the hit point bonus from the health globes kicked in several frames before the char had actually grabbed the globe, visually. So it's possible that the damage display and the red/purple disintegrate visual are desynched by a frame or 2, which might be part of the reason we're having so much trouble figuring this out.|||I'd prefer it to be purple.

I think it fits better with the idea that all arcane type attacks are purple, plus it just works for a mage. Red is certainly much too laser-beam esque.|||What? Too laser-beam esque? These forums are godless.

I know how to fix your heresy:
