7 skills - chose wisely - Page 2

[:1]Quote:

Ray of Frost

Frost Nova

Ice Armor (you forgot this on your list)

Blizzard

Slow Time

Hydra

Teleport

Of these, which goes on your left mouse button? I hope that Disintegrate and Ray of Frost will be allowed for that slot, but does anyone know?

P.S. added Ice Armor to the list, thanks.|||Actually, I was hoping I could just use the mouse buttons and never have to touch the keyboard. You know, just spam the same 2 skills. I'll find a way, I swear. I'll make SURE I can come home from work and just rot my brain and zone out for hours not having to think at all. Ok let's see. I'll go with one element on the right mouse button and another element on the left mouse button. That should do the trick. Max out a lot of passives. Make sure I pick out skills that don't have casting delays. It'll be just like d2, for me anyway.

PS: I find it strange that some think 7 is not enough. Jeeze, I don't want it to be Diablo school or playing the piano. We'll be like Data on Star Trek TNG scanning for life forms. But that's just me.|||I don't see why Ray of Frost or Disintegrate couldn't go on left, just like inferno and similiar skills do now. I'm going to make Ray of Frost my main skill so it will be on left for me. Hope there is still a button to hold down and standstill.

Probably something like this:

Left - Ray of Frost

Right 1 - Blizzard

Right 2 - Hydra

1 - Frost Nova

2 - Slow Time

3 - Teleport

4 - Ice Armor

*Claps hands at post under his*|||They've increased the speed of hotkeys using this system. Previously you had to press a button on your keyboard to put that skill on your mouse, and then click it. In D3 you insta-cast with your hotkeys. It's for faster gameplay, not console compatibility. Seriously guys. There's a big emphasis on keeping the pace of battle high, and having 7 spells at your fingertips is a lot.

I'm pretty sure 95% of the D2 characters I made only had like 3 skills hotkeyed. I really don't see a big issue with "just" 7.

I understand that the community opinion is very important as we're the ones that are going to play the game, but in all honesty Blizzard has yet to do me wrong. I've gotten my money's worth from every game I've purchased of theirs. Do you really think they sit in a big room shooting off ideas like "I got a great one... let's mess up the gameplay and number of usable skills and piss off half of the community! Why should we make a good game when we can make some $$ off console sales?!"

Blizzard is successful because they make fun games... period. They put gameplay first and every decision they make is done carefully in order for the game to appeal to as many people as possible. And before you go and say "yeah, they just want to appeal to everyone to sell more copies," just think about where you fall into the demographic. You're a part of "everyone" and they're trying to sell the game to you, just as much as anyone.

I'm 103% sure that D3 is going to be just as fun, if not more fun, than D2. And the "limit" of 7 hotkeys is never going to hinder my gameplay style.|||1.Spectral Blade

2.Explosive Blast

3.Arcane Orb

4.Mirror Image

5.Slow Time

6.Energy Twister

7.Electrocute|||Good thing my mouse has 8 buttons.

1) Teleport

2) Slow time

3) Disintegrate

4) Electrecute

5) Ray of frost

6) Wave of force

7) Ice armor (till I can get storm armor)

Yeah, I like to keep the baddies at a distant alright!|||I used to use 10 skills with my necromancer. 7 seems fine for the wizard, but I can see the WD needing more...|||Hard to say. The spells are probably completely different by now. And skill rune effects change the equation completely. Let's be mean and assume 3 skill runes and 15 active skills. That's 45 choices.

Let's be generous and assume 5 skill runes and 20 active skills. That's 100 choices.

or ?

That said, my heart will always be with teleport, frost nova, and lazer.|||Slow Time

Wave of Force

Ice Armour

Energy Twister

Magic Missile

Teleport

Arcane Torrent|||Arcane Orb

Disintegrate

Frost Nova

Hydra

Slow Time

Teleport

Storm Armor

Limiting to skills even is nice, since builds will be smaller, there will be more variety.
