Spellsword? - Page 2

I suppose we can agree on this. I wonder how long it will take for a guide like a "spellsword" to actually come out.

I can see a "Melee Wizard" guide coming out rather rapidly, a matter of months at the most. It will be one of the most obvious candidates for a guide, there's plenty of different Melee Sorceress guides for Diablo 2 and it will be a style of play that many people will want to try.|||What I'd like about one this time is that it doesn't rely on high runewords. With skill selection so far, it can be made pretty early after launch.|||You know... sometimes I question whether telling us skills before launch is a good thing. People like us will get familiar with it before we even play it, hence you and I may have a guide already in mind, before the release.|||Quote:

I agree to a certain degree, but the high end items will still be hard to obtain and item optimization will take a while.

Also with the number of skills and different rune effects it should still take time for skill optimization to occur for less specialized builds than a Melee Wizard.

I agree to a point. But then we won't know how effective these skills are in actual gameplay. Reading the descriptions (and looking at tree placement etc) one would most likely discern that Hydra in D2 would be a highly effective skill while this isn't the case.

Actual playtime by members of the comminity will be required to work out which skills work well together and which don't.|||While people play demos and get a general feel for the game, the people who pay attention to the new information being brought to us will have a greater grasp for the game than the people who have never played a Diablo game. With our knowledge of Diablo 2 and Diablo one could say it would be an easy feat to gather enough details on specific skills to make a pretty general guide within the first week that the game comes out.|||would you wanna look at a guide though? personally i rather play the game through a few times with different characters then maybe try one someone else made. to be honest though i never used a guide for D2 but i can see the use of them. lol specially for that guy who played the barb in that last video|||Oh no, actually, in Diablo 3 I will have no interest in looking at guides, this is purely hypothetical. If someone were to take the time to closely examine skills hypothetically speaking we could have a guide before the release of this game.

I think guides are mainly used for PvPing now. When you're using PvM you're not really looking for the best axe or sword, but the most efficient way to do things and with ease. Once that's in your noggin you can slowly work your way up to having trophy items or even characters. IMHO there shouldn't be any guides for Diablo 3 unless you're pvping, even then... what's the point? It's a do it yourself and do it how you want to experience... at least that's the vibe I get from it.|||Who would read a guide is based on the player. Some want to dive right into D3's skills and items, all the while seeking optimization and having their name on a guide.

Others could want to play to savor the game (this'll be me) and wait until we've tried them all before optimizing. Well, even first play can follow some build after reviewing your skills, but not as linear or guided as by , well, a guide.|||Quote:

i loved all the character planners that came out during the beta of D2. man i planned so many characters it was not funny. spent many hours at work getting paid to plan my characters lol. i would love to see more stuff like that again this time around|||Quote:

TitanCalc for D3 is a must in my opinion.
