Screenshot of Male Wizard? - Page 2

Maybe, but it just doesn't have the female HAIR.

And this is one thing I don't think they can change (without wearing helmets).

And considering ALL of the screenshots and videos we've seen of the female Wizard showed here with the same type of outfit (including another picture from that batch), I don't see why this picture would have her wearing a different one.

P.S- The "fire" in the picture can be by an Arcane Orb spell too|||or... may be it's the new class, in the NPC form they are using for the 4th one...

or... the fire is just the corpe of the fallen shaman|||Quote:

Actually, seeing as that "male wizard" seems to sport small boobs, v-neck and cleavage, i am not so sure that this is the male version of a wizard.

More like another version of the female wizard if so.

Thats because the male wizard is like a punk metrosexual ().

About those guys falling down, makes me think that a good fatality (to our hero) would be pushing him just a little bit|||Quote:

lols, go watch the vids of the male wizard on the Wizard D3 page, it is the Male wizard |||Huh, I've missed the previous pictures of the male wizard and my reaction to this picture when I viewed it on the news-page was that "Cool, she is dressed in rags instead of the usual dress. Perhaps that is how lesser/damaged/cracked gear will look.".

I just bumped into this thread by mistake and got pretty surprised.

Still think this dude looks like a chick though. ^_^

+1 to PReP.

Screenshot of Male Wizard?

I'm surprised no one's commented on this yet, given how big a news this is... but in the Fallen update, there's a screenshot where the Male Wizard can be seen!!

(Click image for high quality)|||Not really something new, the Male wizard was already in some screenshots before and even a few vids.

Go to the Wizard page on D3 official site and check the spells mini videos on the page ... two of them has the male wizard in action.

Also the vids from Blizzcon where jay talks about the skill-runes ... the last part of the video has the male wizard in action.

He has been around since Blizzcon 08 |||Darn... thought I found something. The Wizard in the mini-videos on the official website are too small for me to make out anything in detail and for some reason, I can't set it to full screen (is that just me?).|||Quote:

The Blizzcon skill runes gameplay vids should have higher quality .. also you can get some plugin (if you have firefox) to download the vids off D3 Wizard page and play them with any media player you have.|||i don't know if it is a male wizard, look at the dead hound, it is on fire!

i mean, what spell of the wizard tree is a fire skill or at least leaves a fire effect|||What a sick screenshot! Look at the fallen behind the wizard falling through the air .|||Quote:

It is the male wizard, the fire could be a left over from a barrel explosion or a lunatic fallen explosion ... and don't forget the wizard does have Hydra which is fire based magic.

Yeah, my most fav part of the whole update. |||Quote:

Actually, how about it's a resurrection animation of a Shaman?

I does remind me of the D2 one|||Quote:

Yeah it's amazing if they are really adding this feature into D3.

Seriously the first thing that fly into my mind was the scene in the LOTR movie of the battle between Gandalf the Grey and the Balrog of Morgoth, imagine if that sort of battle exist in D3.... |||Actually, seeing as that "male wizard" seems to sport small boobs, v-neck and cleavage, i am not so sure that this is the male version of a wizard.

What Weapon Will Wizards Use? - Page 3

Hopefully, all characters can dual wield small weapons. I like the orb as long as I can also have a sword in the other hand.

I was thinking that, too. It would look pretty awesome. I won't get my hopes up though.|||Do you suppose there may be different shapes for the "orbs" like a prism/pyramid/diamond? Perhaps even just an aura around their hands, a disc which hovers over the top of their hand, or a misty smoke emitted by their body or just around their arm/s. It would be neat to see variety in wizardly items and not just globes.|||I think it would be cool for the Wiz to have big, open, floating spell tome in one hand, and a sword or stave in the other. But essentially it would probably have the same purpose that orbs do in D3.

Those crystals that mages have floating around their heads in D&D would be cool, too. I forget what they're called, something like ioun stones or something...

I was pretty sure I had heard otherwise as well. Did you get a chance to try an orb on another class at BlizzCon?

I only found one and used it with a WD and it said on it that gave +spell damage but only to the WD and Wizard class. I assume that a barbarian could equipt it but he'll really have no reason to do so.|||I'm excited about the new orb/crystal ball weapon. It just looks cool on the characters.|||Battle Wizard would be really cool.|||in the video a staff is dropped ab one is used by what i believe is the male wizard on the video on diablo3.com but yeh any weapon|||I do hope we get more useful items than just orbs to deal with. Since some builds for the wizard can also be geared towards melee and some skills encourage this route, wizards should be able to just stingy things with sharp edges as well. Hitting someone with an orb looks rather embarrasing.|||Sword all the way for me.|||Quote:

Hitting someone with an orb looks rather embarrasing.

pfft thats only cause u havent been hit with one.

cue ball is an "orb" and its used pretty effectively to bash some skulls in... in real life.

phase blade ftw. but like more of a ghost weapon... crystal made sense for the skin of the weapon but the elite forms name Phase... didnt. like it should have an automatic etheral look to it... since it IS indestructible (d2)|||Quote:

Battle Wizard seems extremely viable, I've only seen the trailer but swords seem pretty good too.

This is actually the build I'd like to try when Diablo 34 comes out, It seems really flash and fun, especially if they make the Wizard more capable of melee combat without the use of very specific expensive equipment like in Diablo II.|||i think wizards may have blades so she can boosts her spectral blades spell in the case of a melee wizard, and she coulld be able to have 2 like the assasin with claws

if not, orbs-without-stick seems perfect, i don't like my wiz to be casting spells with a branch!|||Hopefully, all characters can dual wield small weapons. I like the orb as long as I can also have a sword in the other hand.

What Weapon Will Wizards Use?

I see her just running around with a glowing ball on her hand? Not orbs again?|||Yup. Orbs. Only this time the animation is versatile enough to let her use the real thing, instead of "orbs onna stick" from D2. It's also an off-hand item, so she could use a sword as well. and we're all pretty sure that staffs will be coming back.|||To clarify, Wizard's aren't limited to wizard weapons. They can use Staffs, Swords, Axes, Bows, etc, but are the only class that can use Orbs.|||Phase Blades with some kind of fancy enchant like spell.|||Crystal swords are going to look great on wizards with enchanting spells.|||Battle Wizard seems extremely viable, I've only seen the trailer but swords seem pretty good too.

Actually any class can use any weapon if he/she meets it's requierments. But some weapons will only be usefull to some classes - like the orbs that gives +spell damage to wizards and witchdoctors only.|||Actually, I think orbs are going to be some of the class specific items they are implementing, so they probably will be Wizard only.|||Quote:

Nah. It might have the opposite effect, Fox. Players would roam the whole dungeon making sure every last demon is dead before facing the boss, slowing down the pace.

Or they could end the increased droprate at ~80% slaughter-rate (?), and make it luck of the draw from there on |||Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a system that encourages cleaning. But it needs to be subtle so players can't predict exactly how many enemies to kill.|||I dunno if i think this makes the game more boring or more fun. It would be quite annoying if you have to do runs again without teleport. Else great!|||Quote:

To solve both the teleport and the boss farming only problems, I would suggest making the drop formula be partially determined by what % of enemies in an area has been already killed.

This would promote exploration while also rewarding teams that clear most of an area.

I agree a lot with this one. To make sure people don't chase down the last 2 monsters and wasting a lot of time, do this in a probabilistic way. ie. If you kill x% of the monsters, you get something like x*base rate drop. Wasting time chasing the last few monsters will be counter productive.|||Where's the fun if you skip through the level? Monsters and enemies should be killed;teleport away if you are surrounded is a smart use of the teleport, like exploring places already empty faster;in D2 the dungeons were simply huge!It tooked ages to move through them after you cleared them of monsters! That's a smart use of teleport|||to me this is just a fancier version of jump, this is no longer teleporting. i wish they would give it a knew names because it is not hte same ability.|||Quote:

In the first place teleport should be working like this, so I'll rather say it's a new and IMPROVED version of the old teleport |||Quote:

how is this improved, this is nerfed.

Teleportation - the idea of this is you make yourself vanish and re-appear another area, no matter of wall or door in the way. D2 teleport may be unfair, instead of make the move suck, remove it or rename it.

you send yourself up in the air to land on the ground, this is much slower and not as useful. A charecter with a fast run/walk should be able to keep up easily which defeat the purpose of this move. the whole animation of the muve is horrible (not vissually, but the act in which it is preformed.) Like i said before this is just a fancier version of jump, Maybe they should call it "Style-ish Jump" because that it what it is.|||Quote:

Yes, going through the whole level is important, but the team shouldn't feel obligated to hunt down one or two that escaped from a crowd if it will slow things down.

Look at the gameplay video. The Witchdoctor fails to kill one of the scavengers. If he had gone after it the flow of the game would have suffered.

I don't think it was implied that it would be an all or nothing thing.

For example, if there are 300 enemies in a zone before a boss, each one would increase the drop chance of the boss by .33% so a full clear would get a full drop, but if you miss 10 enemies or something you're still getting 97% of a full drop, which is good enough for most people.

Aside from that, this is a change that teleport needs. It is a "BALANCED" version of teleport.

Being able to skip entire levels is such a huge advantage even when not talking about simply boss running. Teleport was also the primary skill that enabled rushing, or at least made it so quick.

Teleport needs this change to be balanced. Without this change, everyone in the know would roll their first character as a sorceress, which is something blizz should strive to avoid.

I guess I'm off of the No-Troll-Post diet for now.

It was related to the Penetrating Spells passive. If a Cold Mastery effect that applies to all spells doesn't make you happy to play a Wizard, not much will.

*goes with the music* "I cllicked on the link and I saw the skill then I JIZZ... IN MY PANTS."

As far as the song goes, it's hilarious how oblivious most people are of the satire in their music, how devolved pop/hip-hop "music" has become to where that song and "I'm On a Boat" are treated as the real thing.|||Quote:

so like i said, be more specific |||I'm trying to keep this explanation PG.

I do assume that they would rather we clear areas because we want to (drops from the monsters we are killing while we clear) rather than we feel we must in order to get a decent boss drop though.

As for whether Teleport can go through walls, as others have said, what we've seen of gameplay videos implies it cannot. I also agree it probably should not, it still gives you a tactical advantage (for offense or defense), while helping to prevent skipping most of the level. IMO this is a better solution than a timer, since a timer would limit its use as a tactical skill. This way you can still spam it around the screen (as mana allows) to reposition for better attacks or to get out of danger, but can't skip to the boss. If you really must bypass enemies, it seems like it will allow you to do that as well, you just have to follow the same walking paths, but at much greater speed and won't get stuck at choke points like another class might.|||Yes, going through the whole level is important, but the team shouldn't feel obligated to hunt down one or two that escaped from a crowd if it will slow things down.
